RASCAL FLATTS END 2006 WITH THE BEST SELLING ARTIST ALBUM!! Rascal Flatts will end the year as the best selling artist across all genres of music!! This is the second consecutive year that the band will wrap the year as the best selling country artist, but the first time in fourteen years that a country artist has ended the year with the best selling artist album! Not since Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992 has a country artist finished the year with the best selling artist album across all genres of music!!
In the same year that Rascal Flatts’ Me And My Gang takes top honors for the best selling artist album of 2006, it also holds the distinction of having the biggest unit debut of the year, with more than 721,000 units sold when it released in April. Rascal Flatts surpass the second highest unit debut, Justin Timberlake, by more than 37,000 units. Me And My Gang held the #1 position on SoundScan’s weekly Top 200 sales chart for three weeks, more consecutive weeks than any artist in any genre this year.
Me And My Gang is the only artist album released in 2006 to be certified triple platinum by the RIAA for sales of more than 3 million units. The project has delivered two chart topping singles, including the band’s first crossover hit, the multi-week AC #1 “What Hurts The Most,” and the band’s sixth country #1 single, “My Wish.” Rascal Flatts became one of only three country artists in the 45 years of shared Country and AC radio chart history to land two different songs in the #1 position on two different genre’s radio charts in the same week, when “What Hurts The Most” topped the R&R AC chart in the same week that “My Wish” went to #1 on the Mediabase Country chart.

TWO GRAMMY NOMINATIONS!!! Rascal Flatts received a Grammy nomination today as Best Country Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocal for their #1 country and #1 Hot AC hit “What Hurts The Most.” The group participated in the 49th Annual Grammy press conference in Los Angeles at the Music Box this morning with Mary J. Blige, James Blunt, Chris Brown, Amy Lee, Ludacris, Corinne Bailey Rae, Justin Timberlake and KT Tunstall. Rascal Flatts were the only representatives from country music. “What Hurts The Most,” written by Steve Robson and Jeffrey Steele, was also nominated for Best Country Song, which will be awarded to the writers.
“What a wonderful way to cap off an incredible year. We are so honored,” said lead singer Gary LeVox.
Rascal Flatts spent most of their morning before the press conference began speaking with Justin Timberlake and Mary J. Blige in the artist green room and after the nominations were read, they conducted a live interview on CNN with Blige.
The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 11, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

RASCAL FLATTS KICK OFF 2007 TOUR Rascal Flatts will kick off their 2007 concert tour, “Me And My Gang 2007,” on February 8 in Charleston, West Virginia. The tour will play in 21 cities before wrapping in early April, at which time the band will take a break from the road to work on a new album. “Me And My Gang 2007” will feature Jason Aldean, who performed on select Rascal Flatts dates in 2006. Show on-sales begin Dec. 9.
“There is nothing more rewarding than the time we spend on the road doing shows for our fans,” says Jay DeMarcus, bassist and vocalist.
A key feature of the “Me And My Gang Tour” in 2007 is the interactive “text-to-screen portion” of the concert. In partnership with Hurricane Interactive Promotion and echomusic, llc, the band enables their fans to send messages live to screens on each side of the stage - free of charge. Fans are also given the chance to opt-in to the newly established Rascal Flatts Mobile Club where they will receive concert updates and band-related news throughout the year.
Rascal Flatts wrapped their “Me And My Gang 2006” tour in November performing to over ONE MILLION fans in 74 cities.
Rising country music star Jason Aldean was voted 2006 “Top New Male Vocalist” by the Academy of Country Music this year. His Broken Bow Records self-titled debut release, which has sold over 800,000 copies, has been praised by critics calling Aldean “the hottest new voice in country music.” The lead track “Hicktown” was the monster hit that firmly planted the Georgia-native on the map, and the follow-up "Why" quickly skyrocketed to the No. one spot at country radio and on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown. His third release “Amarillo Sky” is racing up the charts and currently sits at No. 12. Aldean has toured with some of country music’s biggest names and has performed on some of television’s biggest stages including ABC’s CMA Music Festival Special, the 2006 Country Music Association Awards, and numerous other national media outlets.
